Louise finds hand applique relaxing and machine piecing invigorating. She enjoys creating both traditional and contemporary designs.
"Stars of the Umpqua Valley " 2008 Raffle Quilt
This beautiful king size (108' X 108') quilt features a traditional lone star center medallion made of 100% cotton fabric in shades of blue on a cream background.
The surrounding areas are enhanced with striking hand appliqued designs, pieced borders and lavish quilting.
Members of the Umpqua Valley Quilters Guild created the top and Cheryl Malkowski machine quilted this exquisite addition to any home decor.
The quilt is valued at $1,500.
Tickets are available for $1 each or 6 for $5.
The Umpqua Valley Quilters' Guild is proud to present the "Keepsake Quilting Challenge Quilts" at the 2008 Quilt Show. The Keepsake Quilting Challenge quilts are a traveling collection of first and second place winners from the last 10 years (twenty quilts in all). Quilters from across the nation enter the challenge. Each entry must use a preselected fabric packet and theme. The required fabric forces quilters to move out of their comfort zone and try new things. The challenge results are amazing and varied. Many of the quilters draft their own original designs and use a multitude of techniques and embellishments. Quilters across Oregon will want to take advantage of this opportunity to see the Keepsake Quilting Challenge quilts on April 18, 19 and 20.
